Congratulations!
My name is Tyler Preston, and I'm the guy running this place I call Perform with Preston (PwP). I am a Registered Dietitian (RD) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) ready to serve you.
But why “congratulations”? That’s because you’ve made one of the hardest steps towards transforming your life – realizing we could all use a little help. And I commend you for taking that step. By seeking assistance, you’ve shown a readiness to discover your potential and change how you move, feel, and look every day.
I started out as an avid training advocate. Very quickly, however, I realized I would be doing everyone a disservice if I couldn’t offer my clients the tools to support their training habits. Since then, I’ve developed my own toolbox of skills that I believe are essential for establishing an athletic lifestyle: a lifestyle that allows you to push past your perceived limits and experience the freedom, beauty, and potential your body offers.
That’s what I am here for - To guide you toward your new lifestyle. A lifestyle that supports your athletic endeavors. A lifestyle that develops the health, fitness, and performance standards most important to you. So you can live to see the “beauty and strength” your body is capable of.
For us to accomplish this, we are going to craft a lifestyle that delivers nutrition interventions specific to you; we will work together to create a training program that targets your personal health and performance goals; and we are going to dive into the culinary world and learn to love our relationship with food. I hope you are ready because I sure am. I’ve committed my life, and will keep committing it, to people like you who have the strength to ask “How can I be my best?”
“No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.”
— Socrates
My Approach
Nutrition
You’re never going to stop eating food. It’s a simple fact. So, why does society overcomplicate our food choices? Here, we believe food shouldn’t be a burden. It’s important to develop a positive relationship with food for us to enjoy the process and appreciate its role in supporting our goals.
This is why developing long-lasting dietary habits is our top priority at PwP. Incorporating these lifelong habits means consistently achieving your nutrition goals. And consistency is the catalyst needed to adapt and live your life as an athlete.
To craft this sustainable lifestyle, you’ll need the proper tools and skills. By utilizing evidence-based recommendations, PwP can help to (1) optimize fueling strategies and (2) deliver nutrition plans that stimulate the adaptations for your specific goals.
Exercise and Performance
Remember, we are all athletes specializing in our personal goals for health, fitness, and performance. These qualities define the attributes of your athlete profile. You choose whether to specialize in powerlifting lifts, aerobic excellence, or a healthy balance between the two.
To develop your athlete profile, we will utilize a training system that emphasizes the essential components of athleticism: Hypertrophy, Strength, Power, Endurance, Movement IQ, Speed, Agility, and Mobility. Prepare to develop into an athlete that progressively achieves their personal goals and excels in their sport of life.
Culinary
At PwP, we believe developing your Kitchen “IQ” can turn the tides towards success, AKA you should be willing to get a little dirty! Why? Because learning how to adapt recipes - so they (1) provide your specific nutrition needs, and (2) accommodate your taste preferences - means you can establish a sustainable behavior. THAT is how you will achieve your goals.
Additionally, by exposing your palate to new ingredients, flavors, and cuisines, you’ll expand the food choices available to you, creating endless options and reducing the likelihood of meal boredom.
